The caterpillar is full up!

We have been learning all about capacity in 1A focussing on the vocabulary ‘full and empty.’ Today, the children were identifying an empty caterpillar and then once they had filled him up with yummy food, they were able to identify him as being full. Well done everyone. We even managed to do our鈥

Caterpillars - long and short

We explored making long and short caterpillars this morning using playdough. The children were able to listen and use the key vocabulary long and short to describe the caterpillars.

Short and tall

This week we are focussing on the concept of ‘short’ and ‘not short’ in maths. The children have been building towers this morning as well as ordering the heights of different towers whilst using the key vocabulary. Well done everyone. 猸愶笍

We are continuing to look at the key vocabulary ‘tall.’ This morning the children were choosing which character was ‘tall.’ It was fantastic to hear the children verbalising the key vocabulary ‘tall.’ Well done everyone.

We continue to learn about height and we are focussing on the key vocabulary ‘tall’ and ‘not tall,’ and for those children that have mastered this, we have introduced ‘short’ as well as ordering the size of towers. Money!

Over the next couple of weeks we will be learning about money. We will explore different coins and amounts, use these to solve problems and make amounts too. We are also opening up an Egyptian takeaway in our role play area, where we can buy the food using our money in class.

Big, bigger, biggest鈥 POP!

Look at the focus and attention of all of the children in 1A during this mornings Attention Autism circle time. Miss Brown blew up some balloons to show big, bigger and biggest and then one by one, she popped them. When they popped, glitter rained down onto all of the children.
